County budget delayed

RUTLEDGE The Grainger County Commission failed to pass a 2008-09 budget this week, with commissioners saying there had been no opportunity to garner public input prior to budget considerations.

Turley takes BOE seat

RUTLEDGE Dwight Bull held his seat on the Grainger County Board of Education Thursday, but newcomer Larry Turley outdistanced the other Second District incumbent, David Crews, to win a four-year term on the board. It was the only contested race in the county’s general election.

Exotic hunting preserve responds to allegations

THORN HILL Clinch Mountain Hunting Adventures guide Mikkey Haun said he understands people voicing their concerns about the exotic game hunting preserve near Thorn Hill and believes they have a right to voice their opposition, but added, “I think they should inform themselves first because a lot of what has been said is not true.”
